In Loving Memory of
Marian A. Sanders
1949-2008
It is with sorrow and on behalf of The Chesapeake Bay Chapter of The Blind of Virginia (CBCBVI) and members, we have lost one of our closest dearest friends, and colleague; Mrs. Marian Sanders. She will be missed by one and all.
Marian Augusta Sanders, of Virginia Beach, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2008. She was born to Hula and the late Louis R. Parker on October 11, 1949 in Detroit Michigan.
Marian was educated at St. Theresa of Avila in Detroit and graduated from there in 1967, she then went on to the University of Detroit where she earned a bachelors degree in Social Work, and a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Detroit. It was there where she met the love of her life Rubin Sanders. They were married August 7, 1971. To this joyful union two sons were born James Douglas (J.D.) and Marcus William. Marian celebrated life even with her physical set back. She raised her two sons and was dedicated to God and the church. She supported everyone she met. Even though her illness left her blind she did not let that stop her from assisting others. She was an advocate for the disabled and was an active board member for several organizations.
Marian and Rubin enjoyed a long and blessed marriage of 36 years. One of their greatest joys was the birth of her granddaughter, Kaylee Christine Sanders.
Marian was preceded in death by her brother Louis R. Parker Jr.; mother-in-law Thelma Sanders; and sister-in-law, Billie Sanders.
